Goal: $20,000.00
Specific Need
Thanks to your extremely generous donations throughout the past five years, the Mary Cotton Public Library has been updated with comfortable seating throughout, a new business center space, a comfortable reading nook, new bookcases, updated public meeting room and a beautiful youth library space, all with updated signage, fresh paint and carpet throughout.
With a public community space like the library, there are always a need for funding because our needs are always changing and evolving. Our next projects, in Phase 3 , include the foyer and basement, along with lighting.
Phase 3 Projects
Mary Cotton Heritage Room and Foyer update at the Mary Cotton Public Library
We plan to tell the story of our namesake, Mary Cotton, and why she was so important to our library and community's history by dedicating a room to her in the foyer of the library. We will utilize this room for historial and geneological documents, as well, and plan to include a small place to comfortably sit.
Updating Lighting
Lighting in the main floor around the circulation desk needs updated to make the space lighter and brighter.
Basement Upgrade
Any additional funds will be used to upgrade the basement at the library to help the underutilized space be better used for programming and storage.
To stay up-to-date on the project, be sure to follow the MCPL (@MaryCottonPublicLibrary) and the Friends (@FriendsoftheMCPL) on social media, check the "News" page on the library's website (sabethalibrary.org/news) and subscribe to the library's newsletter.
Mission
The Friends of the Mary Cotton Public Library do for the library what individual friends do for one another; they come forth with ideas, time, advice, effort, encouragement, and financial support.
